What others believe
Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that God will not punish anyone in hell – that it is a common grave where there is no life. I too did not want to believe that God would allow His creation to be sent to a place of eternal suffering called hell. God is love, so why would He even allow such a place to exist?
If you don’t believe that there is a hell, then you might as well not believe in heaven. Jesus preached the love of God but also warned about the consequences of not loving Him.
Matthew 25: 46 "And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
people might have seen the twitter post by Marty Sampson who questioned his
faith. One of the questions he struggled with was the question of hell and why
a God of love would send people there. You cannot question God and His motives
without reading the bible and asking revelation from the Holy Spirit. For
answers from God – read your bible!
Isaiah 45: 7 "I form the light and create darkness; I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things."
Just as God called the light to appear in Genesis 1: 3; he wants us to live in His light and love and not move around in the darkness where sin thrives.
Genesis 1: 4 "God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness."
God calls us away from the darkness – to move into His light which is possible through Jesus Christ. God is the same One who created heaven and hell.
Matthew 25: 41 "Then He will say to those at the left hand.'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels."
people who don’t know the bible grapple with the thought of there being a place
called hell. They cannot believe that God would create a place where
disobedient and evil people will be sent to live in perpetual suffering.
Peter 2: 4 "For if God did not spare the angels that sinned, but cast them to hell
and delivered them into chains of darkness to be kept for judgment…"
9-10 "then the
Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the
Day of Judgment, especially those who walk after the flesh in pursuit of
unclean desires, and despise authority."
We have been warned!
Well, we have been warned just as the people in Noah’s days were warned that the earth would be destroyed by water. Why were Noah and his family the only ones who survived?
6: 8 - 9 "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Noah was a just man and
blameless among his contemporaries. Noah walked with God."
is inevitable for human flesh on this earth but the soul will depart to a
spiritual place – either a place of torment or reunited with our Heavenly
Father. God is holy and pure and any soul who is not consecrated by living a
life through His Son, Jesus Christ, will not be allowed to enter into the gates
11: 23 "Do not fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the
soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
is a spirit and the enemy of mankind. Jesus has overcome the spirit of death
through His blood sacrifice. Anyone who accepts Jesus as the only way to the
Father is able to claim victory over death.
Corinthians 15: 26 "The last enemy that will be destroyed is
body is still subject to death on this earth, but if you are a believer in
Jesus, the second death will not have power over you.
20: 14 – 15 “Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake
of fire. This is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in
the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”
You must live by faith in righteousness
The very reason you were sent to live on this earth is to test your faith. Will you believe the testimony of the Lord and live according to righteousness the way Jesus lived on earth? You have been called to live by faith. 1 Peter 1: 6 – 8.
